Issue 55
Hopefully by the time you read this, the coldest weather of the year will be behind us and we can all start thinking about heading outdoors again to paint.
SASA (South African Society of Artists), have started
going out in groups to enjoy some plein air painting, and in this issue they share their
experiences of travelling to various venues during level 2 lockdown. We also feature two other seasoned plein air painters: Weyers du Toit who spent a few weeks last year travelling and painting through the Karoo, and John Crump who has spent his career capturing the breathtaking landscapes of his native New Zealand.
Winsor & Newton share some pointers for setting up a safe studio environment – you can never be too careful when there are flammable liquids and fumes in a confined space. As always there are artists who have different styles, using various mediums and painting an interesting range of subjects – enough to interest you until next month.
Happy painting!
