There is no better way to loosen up your painting style than to do a spot of plein air painting. Getting outside and setting yourself up to paint a scene with changing light and challenging weather conditions forces you to simplify the composition and quickly portray the landscape. Unfortunately, packing for a plein air session is often the more challenging aspect of any trip. Take too much equipment and you will be worn out before you begin. Pack too lightly and you run the risk of not having that all-important colour or brush when you really need it. In this issue, we ask some seasoned artists to share their tips and ideas for making any plein air excursion enjoyable and successful.<\/p>
